Power
2024
The domain of power measures gender equality in decision-making positions across the political and economic spheres. This domain consists of two sub-domains: (1) political power, and (2) economic power. The sub-domain of political power examines the representation of women and men in the legislative (the share of women and men members of parliament) and executive (the share of women and men senior ministers [includes only ministers and not deputy ministers]) power. The sub-domain of gender-balance in economic decision-making is captured by the proportion of women and men in managerial positions and the share of female and male board members of the central bank. The gender equality index of the power domain is measured on a scale between 0 and 100 points, where 100 is the maximum and indicates the highest level of gender equality in the labour market.
